The AQUAENVEC project ('Assessment and improvement of the urban water cycle Eco-Efficiency Using LCA and LCC') has just been awarded the prize for the best European project in the category of 'In Development'. This mention has been awarded by the Association of European Projects of the EC. The ceremony for the award will take place on Thursday, June 6 in Brussels.
This project focuses on the study of technological, economic and environmental urban water cycle, in particular the phases of collection, purification, sewer networks, treatment and discharge. The ultimate goal of the project, with a funding of one and a half million euros, is to give municipalities a multicriteria tool that allows them to optimize the water cycle in the pursuit of sustainability. The project is coordinated by CETaqua Group Agbar (Barcelona) with the participation of 30 researchers from USC, UAB and University of Valencia and Aquagest. Professor Gumersindo Feijoo from the Group of Environmental Engineering and Bioprocesses is the leader of this project in the University of Santiago de Compostela.
