The USC will coordinate a network of universities and companies for the innovation in the wastewater treatment

http://www.cost.eu/domains_actions/essem/Actions/ES1202 The USC will be responsible for coordinating a European network of universities and companies for innovation in wastewater treatment. Juan M. Lema Professor of Chemical Engineering of the USC is the Chair of the COST Action ' Conceiving Waste Water Treatment in 2020' (Water 2020) which will coordinate innovation activities from 36 universities and 17 companies from 20 European countries, with a budget of over EUR 68 million. Its main objective is the development and the analysis of new and more efficient technologies for wastewater treatment able to obtain water of higher quality, suitable for reuse, minimize sludge production and reduce energy consumption and environmental impact. This is the first time that a Galician University leads an COST Action(European cooperation in the field of scientific and technical research). In this call only 3 of 80 projects were approved in the domain concerning environment.
