I hold a degree in Biotechnology with a specialization in Molecular and Cellular Biotechnology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), and a Master’s in Environmental Engineering from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC).
After my undergraduate studies, I gained experience in the private sector, working in a company dedicated to pharmaceutical production.
In 2023, I joined BioGroup beginning my research career in environmental biotechnology. My initial work focused on mathematical modeling of anaerobic fermentation processes within the national ODDITY project, and during this time, I also completed my Master’s thesis on kinetic modeling for the valorization of organic waste into carboxylates, using lactate as a key intermediate.
Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral research, conducting experimental studies in biological reactors with mixed microbial cultures to develop lactate-based biorefinery strategies for converting organic waste streams into medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA) as part of the VIALACTEA Project, under the supervision of Prof. Miguel Mauricio and Prof. Alberte Regueira.
