Sara Galindo
PhD Candidate
Biochemistry graduate at the University of Granada with further master studies in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology at the Complutense University of Madrid. My aim is to research towards a more sustainable industry and consumption model, focusing on waste treatment and valorization through biological processes.
During my professional career I have mainly focussed on biological plastic waste treatment, specially for PET, PE and PP, using different microorganisms and enzymes. I am currently working in the PETzyme project developing a free enzyme-based recycling process for PET. This project also includes the scale-up of the heterologous protein production and its application for waste degradation.
