Scientific Profiles
I received my degree in Chemical Engineering in June 2006 at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). Then I got the FPU fellowship from the Spanish Government to perform my doctoral thesis in the group of Environmental Biotechnology (BioGroup) at USC which was finished in December 2012. I continued working as post-doctoral researcher in the BioGroup and in 2015 I was awarded as principal investigator of a national project (“Proyectos I+D+i jóvenes investigadores”, MINECO). In 2017 I was granted with the Xunta de Galicia fellowship to perform a foreign stay of two years at National University of Ireland, to study advanced UV lamps for wastewater disinfection, and University of Minho, to study the application of Quimiometric Image Analysis as a tool to monitor granular sludge in wastewater treatment systems. My research in the Group of Environmental Biotechnology (BioGroup) is devoted to the biological advanced treatment of municipal and industrial waste(water) with recovery of valuable products (as biogas, biopolymers and water for reuse). The processes studied includes aerobic granular sludge, microalgae, anammox and polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) production. Since 2023 I am Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at USC.
