Ana Vázquez-Fernández

Postdoctoral Researcher

I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (2016) and a Master in Biological and Environmental Engineering in Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (2018). During my Master studies, I collaborated with the Biodegradation of Industrial Contaminants and Waste Valorization Group (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) in the study of bioethanol production by fermentation of glucose and xylose with different strains of white-rot fungi. After that, I started my PhD in Environmental Science and Technology in GENOCOV research group (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). In 2023, I defended my thesis, which was focused on the study of the influence of the operational parameters and the organic composition on the substrate in the acidogenic fermentation of wastewaters. In November 2023, I joined the BiogGroup as postdoctoral researcher within the project ODDITY, which aims to study the selective production of odd-chain carboxylic acids from agroindustrial wastes.
