Postdoctoral Researcher
I obtained a Bachelor degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Advanced Biotechnology from the University of A Coruña (UDC). After that I worked in the Environmental Chemical Engineering research group (EnQA-UDC), operating and optimizing bioreactors simulating hybrid lab-scale constructed wetlands for the treatment of winery effluents.
In 2015 I started my PhD (FPI fellowship from the Spanish Government) at the Industrial pollutant biodegradation and waste revalorization research group (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). My thesis work focused on the enrichment and characterization of two mixed bacterial cultures obtained from environmental samples containing strictly anaerobic bacteria capable of degrading
halogenated compounds. I defended my thesis in 2018 and then stayed at the same group one more year and a half as a postdoc.
I enjoyed a postdoctoral research stay at the Department of Environmental Biotechnology at the Helmholzt Centre for Environmental Research in Leipzig (Germany) on the Geobiochemistry working group (enjoying a DAAD german grant). Currently, since January 2021 I am granted with a Juan de la Cierva- Formación grant from the Spanish Government to perform my research at the Biogroup (research line on micropollutants biodegradation)
