Next Friday 24th of September we will be participating in one of the workshops programmed in Santiago on the occasion of the European Researchers' Night 2021. The aim of this action is to bring the research and researchers closer to the public, to increase the interest of young people in science and research careers and showcase the impact of researchers ’work on people’s daily lives.

To achieve this, some researchers from Biogroup and CRETUS, will carry out 4 interactive demonstrations related with their research work.

Wastewater treatment: processes for water treatment in the dairy industry.

Resource recovery from agri-food waste: Demonstration of the use of different residues from the agri-food industry (peanut shell, grape pomace, etc.) as a substrate for the growth of fungi producing enzymes of high industrial interest and a demonstration of the capacity antioxidant of the hydroalcoholic extracts of apple pomace.

A visual demonstration of two alternatives to remove recalcitrant pollutants in wastewater. For this, a common dye in the textile industry, Reactive Blue 19, will be used, since it presents significant risks to aquatic ecosystems.

Moreover, the attendees will be able to assess the environmental impact of their consumption diets and make a comparison with the equivalent CO2 emissions.
