Today November 19th 2021, the researcher Iana Salim defended her Doctoral Thesis " From agricultural cultivation to food and bio-based products: a life cycle assessment perspective" at School of Engineering.

The research work of Iana was focused on the study of the environmental sustainability of the production of various crops and the use of these crops, in the production of bioproducts. By applying the life cycle assessment methodology, she was able to detect important environmental impacts associated with the production of crops and bioproducts and propose measures to mitigate environmental stress, such as climate change.

Prof. Gumersindo Feijoo and Prof. Maite Moreira were the supervisors.

Prof. Montserrat Valcárcel (Universidade de Santiago de Compostela), Dr. Pedro Villanueva (Energylab) and Assoc. Prof. Fausto Miguel Cereja (Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal) formed the comission.
