Alberte Regueira was appointed Assistant Professor in Chemical Engineering at Universidade de Santiago de Compostela after passing an evaluation process.

He is a Chemical Engineer graduated from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (Spain) in 2014. In his PhD research, he centred his research in the development of mathematical models for the production of volatile fatty acids in mixed-culture fermentations including bioenergetic, resource allocation or kinetic models. After obtained his PhD in 2020, he has been working as a post-doctoral researcher at CMET, Center for Microbial Ecology and Technology, (Ghent University) and was involved in research related with the production of medium-chain carboxylic acids in (granular) fermentative chain elongation processes, the production of lactic acid from agricultural residual streams and its concentration via membrane electrolysis or acetogenic bioprocesses. In his research, he aims at combining the development and use of mathematical models with experimentation.
