2.1.3 LCA-assisted decision-making

In a global world as ours, which is facing global challenges, science-based assessments are the key to monitoring progress and support the decisions. But when decisions are taken, there is always a risk of problem shifting as one solution to a particular problem may create another one elsewhere. This is where Life Cycle Thinking (by means of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and other related tools) LCT) comes in, by broadening the focus in order to be able to understand and include the whole environmental, social and economic implications of our decisions to identify potential conflicts, synergies and trade-offs.
